The Rock Hill Police Department is located in South Carolina just south of Charlotte, North Carolina. We are a department of 164 sworn officers and are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. There are many career paths you can choose with us once completing the academy and serving on patrol. On patrol, officers will encounter a variety of calls for service, gaining knowledge and experience, enabling them to serve and cultivate community relationships. Some of the different career paths within the Rock Hill Police Department include, K-9 Handler, Detective Division, Narcotics, Community Services, Violent Crimes Unit, Street Crimes Unit, Forensic Services Unit, Training Unit, as well as others. Officers also have the opportunity to serve on the K-9 Tracking Team, Bomb Squad, SWAT Team, Civil Disturbance Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Drone Team, Latino Outreach Team, and more. The hiring process, which takes approximately 3-8 weeks, has been streamlined to accommodate long distance candidates. Candidates can expect to travel to Rock Hill one time for the hiring process. The Rock Hill Police Department has a lateral transfer program that recognizes prior service. Officers hired in as a lateral transfer may receive rank, compensation, and promotional potential based on prior years of service. The City of Rock Hill also has a free on-site health clinic through Atrium Health. Annual Salary of $61,331 is based on a 12 hour schedule, totaling 84 hours in a two week pay period.
