Job Description
To protect the City's residents and property by providing police, fire, and emergency medical services. This position responds to emergency calls, renders aid, investigates incidents, and completes administrative and incident reports. Enforce local, state, and federal laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances. Conduct duties including but not limited to patrol, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, and/or special details, driving emergency vehicles, perform fire fighting duties, and provides emergency medical treatment to the sick or injured.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet TCOLE requirements to be able possess a basic peace officer certification. Must possess a basic firefighter certification issued by the Texas Fire Commission along with their Emergency Medical Technician Certification OR receive certification within 12 months after hire date. The Basic firefighter & EMT certification will be at the expense of the department for those hired without previous certification. Applicants hired without certifications will be expected to obtain all certifications to remain on staff. Applicants must be able to perform the essential job functions of a Public Safety Officer. Supplement pay based on levels of certification in addition to base pay. All applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and 21 years of age. Valid class C Texas Drivers License with acceptable driving record, and must obtain/retain, within ninety (90) days of employment, a valid Texas Class B Driver's License. Must have HS diploma/GED Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, including holidays and weekends, shift work. Must be able to work in a team environment, dependability, reliability, good attendance required. Applicant must be self-motivated with strong work ethics, good moral character, and have the ability to work independently in the absence of supervision. Must be able to develop solutions to help solve problems in assigned work area. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. All qualified applicants MUST complete an application in order to be considered for the position. Position is open until filled.
