Job Description

This position serves as a subject matter expert for Members in law enforcement-related issues and is responsible for consultations, training services, and resources related to the management and control of risk associated with law enforcement operations. This is accomplished by developing and conducting training programs, collaborating with consultants, participating in professional organizations, and responding to Member requests. Performs a wide range of loss prevention services for Members with law enforcement operations. Required Responsibilities

• Provide onsite consultations, training presentations, and strategic discussions with law enforcement leaders. Review best practices, legal updates, and case law to advise Members, industry organizations, and Pool staff about potential or emerging exposures or trends in law enforcement. Assists with developing risk management-focused training for law enforcement leaders through internal training provided by Pool personnel or contract trainers. Address risks and exposures through presentations, hands-on instruction, exercises, classroom activities, and facilitated group discussions. Assists with reviewing best practices, legal updates, and case law to advise Members, industry-related groups, and Pool staff about potential or emerging exposures or trends in law enforcement. Analyzes loss trends and risk exposures, developing actionable plans to address identified deficiencies. Monitors incidents and current events affecting law enforcement operations and prepares correspondence to communicate recommendations, service plans, and action items. Collaborates with partnering organizations to support law enforcement Members. Assists with the Pool's Contract Training Provider program with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Participate on the Texas Police Chiefs Association's Officer Safety Committee and assist with developing resources or materials that can be utilized through programs such as the

VINCIBLE

initiative. Attends continuing education and training to maintain any current certifications and broaden subject matter expertise.

•Required B.A. or B.S. degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Administration, Public Administration, or a related field

Leadership role with a law enforcement agency in the State of Texas Master Peace Officer Certification Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be accepted Preferred Command-level law enforcement experience Essential Competencies and Skills

•Required Valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record Possess knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, rules, and regulations Proficiency in MS Excel Proficiency in MS Word Proficiency in MS PowerPoint Proficiency in MS Outlook Ability to work in an autonomous environment with self-motivation and a passion for improving law enforcement Preferred Comprehensive understanding of law enforcement risk management, exposures to loss, and the role of the Risk Pool

This position does not have indirect reports. Travel Requirements Extensive travel (by car or air), including overnight Physical Requirements Be able to withstand typical office work that includes periods of sitting, standing, typing, etc. indoors while potentially performing job tasks in close proximity to other people. In addition to typical office work, must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 30 pounds frequently to move objects. Requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, visual inspection, assembly of parts, or extensive reading. Ability to work in closed vehicles or equipment. Ability to have a flexible work schedule to meet business needs and be at work on-site during specified or core hours. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods, including prolonged sitting, use of hands and feet to operate vehicle controls, and maintaining visual awareness in varying traffic and weather conditions. Must be able to operate standard computer hardware.
