PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provide a highly visible safety and security presence on assigned school campuses to help deter, prevent, and, if necessary, respond to an active deadly-force threat. The Guardian's primary responsibility is protecting students, staff, and visitors while maintaining a safe learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • years age or older
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Experience with firearms
  • Ability to complete a background investigation
  • Ability to pass medical examinations, psychological, and drug screening
  • Ability to pass

  • Good standing with previous law enforcement agency.
  • Valid Texas License to Carry (if required by district policy).
  • Ability to successfully complete all Texas Guardian Program training requirements.
  • May be required to work more than forty hours during the workweek or on weekends for special eventsincidents.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Honorably retired Texas or out-of-state law enforcement officer preferred.
  • Minimum years continuous law enforcement service preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must pass FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Awareness Certification within days hire.
  • Must complete
FEMA NIMS ICS
, , , training within year hire.
  • Applicants will be subject to extensive criminal background checks, including DPSFBI fingerprinting due to restricted access into CJIS areas the police department.
AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATIONS
  • Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor.
  • Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous years.
  • arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor).
  • Family Violence conviction.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
