TCOLE certification is not required to apply though preference maybe given to candidates with a current TCOLE license. Hiring Incentive $10k for non-Certified/$20K for certified candidates with 3 or more years of experience Lateral Officer may qualify for a modified process and starting pay at $90,343. Load bearing Vests / Tattoos and Beards allowed Salary Structure
  • effective October 1, 2026 Academy / Non-Certified Starting Salary $73,014/year
Certified/Experienced Salary Range:
Year 1
  • $80,269 (after graduation from the academy) Year 2
  • $82,677 Year 3
  • $85,157 Year 4
  • $87,712 Year 5
  • $90,343 Year 6
  • $103,496 Lateral appointments begin at up to $90,343/year, based on experience. At least one year of full-time, paid peace officer experience beyond that agency's field training program
  • within the past 24 months of being hired by this department for a Police Officer position.
(includes hospital, college/university, and ISD police) No pending disciplinary actions or investigations for misconduct/criminal activity Out-of-State officers must be TCOLE certified by the time of job acceptance. The Chief of Police or designee will make the final determination about whether an applicant meets eligibility standards.
