This position offers meaningful, hands-on experience in law enforcement within a higher education setting, including investigating incidents, preserving evidence, and participating in legal and conduct processes. Patrols University Properties in a vehicle and on foot to provide security and enforce traffic laws. Responds to public calls for service. Enforces Federal, State, Local, and University laws and regulations. Arrests and or issue citations to violators of the law. Conducts formal investigations of criminal activity. Prepares case reports and other forms of documentation. Testifies in court of law and University hearings. Attends a minimum of 40 hours of training as required by Utah POST. Maintains a working relationship with state and local law enforcement agencies. Performs public relations activities. Assists fellow officers at special functions as assigned. Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent

graduate. Applicant must be currently a Certified Law Enforcement Officer, Certified Special Functions Officer, or certifiable as a State of Utah Law Enforcement Officer. Valid Driver's License. Knowledge Knowledge of the Utah State Code, local laws, and ordinances. Skills Skills in the use of a firearm and able to qualify semiannually. Skills in the operation of a vehicle in emergencies. Skills in investigative procedures. Skills in interpersonal communication and problem-solving. Abilities Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations and show good decision-making. Ability to operate computer software (word processor, report writing system) Ability to walk, run, and stand for long periods. Ability to maintain control in a high-stress situation. Ability to pass a full background investigation.
