A Law Enforcement Officer enforces jurisdictional laws, maintains public safety, and protects property and people in the community. Patrols neighborhoods, responds to emergency calls and crime scenes, watches for traffic and driving violations. Authorized to arrest criminals; prepares cases and testifies in court.
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as a Police Officer. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations. You will perform general police functions including patrol, criminal law enforcement, traffic code enforcement, ordinance enforcement, maintaining public peace, protecting life and property, problem-solving, and working with the community to address community needs.
Experienced Officer Program:
Eligible for shortened probationary period, higher starting wage and additional vacation!! 2-2-3 rotation, 12 hour shifts resulting in every other Friday-Sunday Off Ability to reach top hourly wage after 2 years or less Uniforms 100% paid for by Agency 88 hours of vacation plus 106 additional hours of benefit time per year Sick leave accrual paid out at retirement Additional pay for 9.5 holidays, regardless of whether scheduled to work Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 60 college credits required Must be eligible for certification by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) in 2027 through completion of a Wisconsin law enforcement recruit academy, current enrollment or formal acceptance into an academy, or eligibility for LESB reciprocity Must be available to work day, night, and overnight shifts Within three months after completion of probation, must reside in Portage County or within 30 miles of the Village of Plover jurisdictional boundary Wisconsin Law Enforcement Reciprocity Applicants with prior out-of-state, federal, military, or tribal law enforcement experience may be eligible for Wisconsin's Law Enforcement Reciprocity Examination. Eligibility generally requires qualifying law enforcement training and experience that meets Wisconsin LESB requirements.
