Job Description

Position Objective Reporting to the General Counsel - Alaska, the Corporate Attorney will partner with all aspects of the business and its functions to provide legal support and counsel regarding corporate, commercial, regulatory and environmental matters in a pragmatic and business orientated manner. Key stakeholders for the Corporate Attorney will be the Supply Chain and Operations functions and the Environmental, Health and Safety function. The Corporate Attorney will also advise and guide the Projects, Exploration, Finance, External Affairs and People and Culture functions within Santos Alaska business unit. Position Accountabilities Review and negotiate Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreements, scopes of work, and equipment procurement contracts. Manage, review and update of template agreements Support Environmental compliance, including by providing counsel on state, federal and local environmental and permitting requirements. Support legal response to field incidents, spills, exceedances or other environmental matters. Review internal and external environmental permitting approval and engagement plans. Support development of engagement plans regarding same. Support Senior Counsel as needed, e.g., litigation support, and review and analysis of Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs) and Authority for Expenditures (AFEs) with working interest partners. Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS). Compliance with the Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA). Compliance with the Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements. Professional Experience Essential experience required for this position includes: Minimum 6 years' practice experience. Desired experience for this position includes: A strong legal foundation with experience in Alaska state and federal environmental and regulatory law. Strong writing and clear communication skills. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, vendor contracts, and non-disclosure forms. Experience leading complex contractual and commercial negotiations. Eagerness to learn business operations and provide practical and pragmatic advice. Highly motivated, and someone who relishes the challenge at hand, with a strong focus on achievement. A very confident professional who constantly raises the bar and presses the organization toward a higher level of achievement. Has little need for close management supervision and direction and is comfortable and effective in an in operating environment. Qualifications Juris Doctorate Degree
