A Lawyer represents clients in legal matters or court proceedings, provides legal advice and draws up legal documents. Works on criminal or civil cases, and either specializes in one area or practices broadly across all areas of law.
Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty assisting attorneys in case preparation; performs related work as assigned.

The Coconino County Attorney's Office is a public law office in Northern Arizona located in the heart of Flagstaff. We are a team of approximately 20 attorneys and 30 legal staff who are dedicated to the vigorous and fair prosecution of crime throughout Coconino County, protection of the rights of crime victims, and effective legal representation of the County and County special districts. Coconino County (Pop. 145,000) lies in the northern section of Arizona and encompasses a diverse landscape of mountains and high desert, national parks, including the Grand Canyon National Park, and tribal lands of the Havasupai, Hualapai, Hopi, and Navajo Nations. It is the second largest county by area in the continental United States and contains a large part of the Coconino National Forest, the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in North America. The county seat is Flagstaff, which is nestled against the San Francisco Peaks, the highest elevation in Arizona. Other communities include Page, Williams, Tusayan, and Sedona. Salary depends on qualifications.

Position Range:
$60,268.00 - $87,604.00 (Illustrative only) Locates and interviews witnesses Serves subpoenas Photographs/records clients, witnesses, or crime scenes Evaluates crime scenes Locates and retrieves police reports Testifies in court Confers with attorneys regarding strengths/weaknesses of case Trains staff on basic case investigation Drafts office reports related to statutory reporting requirements Trains and consults with law enforcement agencies Supports the Civil Division, including forfeitures, mental health investigations, adoptions, and civil litigation Performs other duties as assigned Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: public speaking, driving; sitting; working with and around others; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer work; vision acuity (near) for routine office and customer service duties; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for typing and paperwork .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six years of law enforcement experience; OR Associate degree in a related field and five years of law enforcement experience; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of law enforcement experience; OR Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be AZ Post Certified within 60 days of hire. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
PREFERENCE
Homicide and narcotics investigation experience.
