Role Description This is a full-time on-site role located in Gardena, CA, for an Assistant General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice, managing outside counsel, litigation related tasks, handling labor and employment law matters, general liability matters, licensing issues, contracts and ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards. Daily tasks include regular contact and coordination with outside counsel, advising on legal issues, drafting and reviewing contracts, conducting internal investigation reviews, assist in overseeing Risk and HR and collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate legal risks.
Key Responsibilities Legal Advice and Counsel:
Provide guidance to senior management and various departments on corporate, regulatory, and commercial matters, ensuring operations comply with applicable laws and regulations
Contract and Document Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including settlement and licensing agreements
Litigation and Dispute Resolution:
Oversee litigation, arbitration, and other disputes, managing case strategy, outside counsel, and risk assessment
Intellectual Property Oversight:
Manage the organization's IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, and provide strategic guidance on protection and enforcement
Policy Development and Compliance:
Develop and implement company policies, procedures, and governance standards to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
Internal Investigations and Regulatory Matters:
Lead investigations, respond to government inquiries, and monitor legal developments affecting the organization
Required Qualifications Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Licensing:
Active membership in the relevant
State Bar Experience:
2-4+ years of litigation experience
Skills:
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects; expertise in employment law, general liability and regulatory compliance Reporting and Organizational Role Reports to the General Counsel Functions as a senior legal advisor and may manage a departmental function within the broader legal team Plays a strategic role in aligning legal strategy with business objectives and protecting the organization's legal and financial interests Additional Considerations The role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel to achieve favorable outcomes.
