About JLG JLG Lawyers focuses solely on representing plaintiffs in employment law cases. We operate a highly collaborative office in which attorneys work in teams to ensure all of our clients receive high quality and ethical representation. Recent exponential growth and the firm's business model has created an exciting opportunity for a motivated junior candidate to gain early and substantial experience in employment litigation, develop invaluable mentorship relationships, and achieve a high degree of professional and personal satisfaction. About the Role As a Junior Paralegal in our Employment Litigation department, you will work closely with our attorneys to help support and scale the firm's litigation practice. You will be serving the ever-growing number of Californians who have been illegally discriminated against, harassed, unfairly compensated, subjected to a hostile work environment, and/or wrongfully terminated. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated paralegal who is looking to grow their litigation skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment. We will train the right candidate. Daily Tasks Draft and finalize complaints for employment litigation matters including wrongful termination cases Prepare case initiation documents and file complaints in state and federal courts Draft discovery requests and responses Conduct witness interviews and prepare witness statements Facilitate document production in hard copy and electronic formats Manage litigation databases and support electronic discovery processes Prepare, serve, and follow up on subpoenas Handle meet and confer processes with opposing counsel Draft mediation briefs and settlement documents Draft correspondence and regularly communicate with clients, experts, and defense counsel Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner Your Skills Some experience with employment disputes including wrongful terminations, FEHA claims, labor code violations, PAGA, and wage and hour claims preferred but not required Experience or coursework in drafting and filing complaints in employment litigation matters a plus Familiarity with discovery processes, meet and confer procedures, and mediation brief preparation Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Able to problem solve and work independently on assigned matters Strong organizational skills and accuracy with legal documentation Good interpersonal skills and professional demeanor with clients and opposing counsel Ability to work in a team environment while managing individual caseload Flexible and reliable with ability to meet strict court deadlines Good telephone demeanor and client service skills What We Do for You Competitive salary of $30-35/hr depending on experience Mentorship from experienced employment litigation attorneys Opportunities for growth and advancement Competitive PTO package Paid holidays Team outings and sponsored events 401K Company-paid medical insurance Paid dental, vision, and life insurance Free parking in parking lot Experience Employment and labor law: some experience preferred, entry level considered Complaint drafting and filing: a plus Discovery experience: a plus
