Description We are looking for a practical, business-focused attorney to provide legal guidance for a growing healthcare organization in California. This Long-term Contract position offers the chance to work closely with operational and clinical leaders on complex legal matters involving healthcare services, corporate operations, and sensitive patient-related issues. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to support innovation while protecting the organization from legal and regulatory risk.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver ongoing legal advice across healthcare, corporate, and operational matters to support daily business needs.
• Develop risk-reduction strategies with particular attention to liability exposure, dispute prevention, and claim avoidance.
• Counsel internal stakeholders on healthcare compliance topics, including matters involving patient privacy, provider concerns, and confidential medical information.
• Oversee core corporate governance activities such as entity maintenance, state filings, and organizational record support.
• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate a range of business agreements to protect the organization's legal and commercial interests.
• Advise on employee-related legal issues and provide guidance when labor and employment matters arise.
• Work in partnership with leadership teams across business functions to address legal questions in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
• Support the organization in aligning growth initiatives and operational goals with applicable laws, regulations, and risk management standards. Requirements
• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing.
• Prior experience in an in-house counsel, associate general counsel, corporate counsel, or comparable law firm role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare law, with experience in clinical or healthcare compliance strongly preferred.
• Background in corporate governance, commercial contracting, contract negotiation, and legal risk management.
• Working knowledge of labor and employment law.
• Ability to manage highly sensitive matters involving patients, providers, and protected health information.
• Familiarity with HIPAA-regulated environments, including patient privacy considerations.
• Candidates with transferable experience in medical malpractice, personal injury, or employment litigation will also be considered.
