The Deputy District Attorney - Felony Prosecutor performs professional legal work in the prosecution of felony criminal cases in the 17 th Judicial District, acting on behalf of the District Attorney and representing the People of the State of Colorado. Attorneys in this category have consistently demonstrated the experience and competence necessary to prosecute complex felony cases. Attorneys have also demonstrated leadership ability and consistency in developing working relationships with law enforcement, the judiciary, the defense bar, victim groups, and the community. Demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety and making the criminal justice system better Perform the duties of a District Court felony prosecutor, including preparing and conducting jury trials on felony offenses of varying levels of complexity. Maintain a large caseload of felony cases and perform all necessary duties to shepherd the cases through the criminal justice system, including making appropriate plea offers, working with victims, preparing witnesses, collaborating with law enforcement and interacting with defense attorneys. Present evidence, argue motions of suppression and other legal motions, and litigate all stages of a jury trial from jury selection to closing statement. Performs legal research as needed for the proper prosecution of felony cases Represent the District Attorney using professionalism and integrity in dealing with court officials, witnesses, members of the legal community and the general public. Establish, nurture and improve relationships between the District Attorney's Office and the community Provide, on a scheduled basis, off-hour and on-call services to police agencies requiring assistance during nights and weekends Must possess a law degree from an accredited law school Four (4) years minimum experience as prosecuting attorney in the State of Colorado or another State is required.
