Job Description

Are you an Attorney Interested in Meaningful Engaging Work in Majestic Western Colorado? The 7th Judicial District Office of the District Attorney is seeking Deputy District Attorney's responsible for court cases in the 7th Judicial District. The 7th Judicial District consists of six counties in Western Colorado, including Montrose, Delta, Ouray, San Miguel, Gunnison, and Hinsdale Counties. Duties and Responsibilities Reviews and assesses evidence related to criminal cases including felonies, traffic and misdemeanors, including domestic violence and DUIs Analyzes case evidence as decides whether to pursue criminal charges Prepares and files legal documents such as charging documents, motions and search warrants Presents the government's case in court, including opening and closing arguments, direct and cross-examination of witnesses, and presenting evidence Conducts pre-trial negotiations with defense council Interacts with victims and witnesses to prepare for trial Collaborates with law enforcement and other judicial partners as part the investigation of crimes Keeps up to date on changes in laws and legal precedents that affect criminal prosecution Ensures all legal proceedings are conducted in accordance with the law and that the rights of the accused are respected
Requirements :
  • Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Colorado or eligible to practice in Colorado based on the required UBE score.

$101,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year DOQ plus benefits.
