Job Description

We are seeking an experienced General Counsel who can provide in-house, law firm partner-level legal guidance on corporate matters commonly encountered by high-growth, technology-driven financial services companies. The General Counsel will serve as a trusted legal advisor to the company's ownership and senior management, providing strategic counsel on a broad range of corporate legal matters across the company's U.S. and global operations. This role will report directly to the CEO and partner closely with the investment adviser's Chief Legal Officer to provide leadership on key legal matters, with a particular focus on the company's corporate strategy, growth, governance, and evolving legal needs. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day strategic legal counsel to executives and management on organizational and corporate developments, with particular attention to technology-related matters and applicable U.S. state, federal, and global legal requirements. Advise on corporate organizational matters and strategic transactions, including potential mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other corporate initiatives. Provide counsel on compensation, employment, and workforce-related legal matters Advise on immigration, trade, and other cross-border legal matters relevant to the company's global operations, with particular attention to requirements affecting its New York and Connecticut operations. Serve as a trusted legal and strategic partner to executive management, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to management and other team members. Lead and manage commercial, technology, intellectual property, and related legal matters in partnership with Associate General Counsel and other in-house legal resources. Provide senior-level legal judgment and decision-making support for corporate negotiations, commercial matters, and significant business and legal risks. Guide members of the legal team in managing and coordinating internal legal resources and external counsel, including the effective allocation of legal work and resources. Oversee other general corporate legal matters as needed and assume additional areas of responsibility based on the General Counsel's expertise, interests, and the evolving needs of the company. Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) degree and at least 10 years of relevant legal experience. Comfort with the use of evolving technologies in business. Mention GoInhouse.com when applying. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build relationships, actively listen, and influence stakeholders by adapting communication style to different audiences. Experience at a private fund manager, a law firm, regulated exchange, financial technology company, trading firm, or other financial services organization is preferred.
