PA torneys handle published guidance, advice, and litigion on all mters reled to reporting and paying taxes; assessing and collecting taxes (including interest and penalties); abing, crediting, or refunding over assessments or overpayments of tax; filing informion returns; bankruptcy; summonses and informion ghering; federal tax liens and levies; damage claims; torney fees; disclosure, privacy, and Freedom of Informion Act issues; and judicial practice and judicial doctrines. As an Attorney-Adviser (Tax) (Senior Technician Reviewer), you will: Act as a legal and technical adviser to the Branch Chief or to other officials of the Associe Chief Counsel (PA) or the Chief Counsel's Office on the most difficult, important, and complex professional, legal and policy mters in the branch. These mters involve detailed and extensive research on compliced legal problems with broad ramificions for tax administrion. In consultion with the Branch Chief, assign work to the torneys and specialists within the branch and advise on approaches to be taken. Review work products and provides feedback on work performed. Lead special projects and handle high visibility assignments. Act as a reviewer and/or initior for some of the most compliced and difficult assignments in the branch and assist with the development and drafting of Internal Revenue legislion and regulions, rulings, technical advice, and other advisory products assigned to the branch. Support the work of IRS and Chief Counsel components in all aspects of their work, including litigion activities, technical advice and guidance, and the preparion of briefs and appelle recommendions. Many issues presented for decision require extensive considerion in the field and elsewhere. Conduct conferences and represent the IRS in the resolution of some of the most complex, technical problems presented by taxpayers and their representives. Represent the Office on training sessions, presentions and panel discussions before IRS and Chief Counsel components, other governmental agencies and business and professional groups on technical and legal mters reling to the work of the branch. In the absence of the Branch Chief, act as Branch Chief performing the full range of duties of th position. This is not an all-inclusive list. Experience Requirements:
1 year of general professional legal experience from any area of expertise; plus 3 year(s) of professional legal tax experience Professional Legal Tax Experience is defined as: Comprehensive knowledge and experience in other areas of law and legal concepts particularly as they impact tax laws, with expertise in one or more of the following specializion areas: procedural aspects of filing returns and paying taxes; Circular 230 and the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct; the Administrive Procedure Act; assessment and collection of taxes (including interest and penalties); abing, crediting, or refunding over assessments or overpayments of tax; mters reling to Collection Appeal Procedures and Collection Due Process Programs; mters reling to bankruptcy practice and procedure and ste insolvency and receivership proceedings; alternives to enforced collection; compromises and closing agreements; mters reling to disclosure, privacy and FOIA; mters reling to summonses and the ghering of informion; judicial practice and procedure, which include technical electronic discovery (eDiscovery) litigion support. At least one year of this experience must be equivalent to the work performed the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Only experience gained after Bar Admission may be credited as Professional Legal Experience.
Educion Substitution:
An LL.M. degree in Taxion or a FOIA/Disclosure reled field may be substituted for the one year of general legal experience listed above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prored basis.
