Job Description
Description Our client is seeking a Associate Corporate Counsel to join our in-house legal team in Newark, Delaware. This position supports a wide range of business needs by delivering practical legal counsel across commercial contracting, marketing and advertising review, privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. The role is well suited for an attorney who combines sound judgment with a collaborative approach and is comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and negotiate a variety of business agreements, including vendor, consulting, confidentiality, marketing, manufacturing, and service contracts.
- Counsel internal stakeholders on advertising campaigns, promotional initiatives, digital content, and social media communications to help maintain legal and regulatory compliance.
- Advise the business on privacy, data protection, and information security issues, including risk identification and practical mitigation strategies.
- Help design, refine, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal guidance that support company operations.
- Interpret applicable laws and regulatory obligations and translate them into clear, business-focused recommendations for internal teams.
- Assist with disputes and litigation matters by coordinating strategy, documents, and communications with external legal partners.
- Support the protection and enforcement of the company's intellectual property portfolio and related rights.
- Work closely with business leaders and legal colleagues to identify legal exposure, assess compliance concerns, and develop effective solutions.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel when specialized support is required and monitor the quality and efficiency of their work.
- Contribute to additional legal projects and departmental priorities as business needs evolve. Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar and eligibility to obtain a Delaware Certificate of Limited Practice if not already admitted in Delaware.
- 2-4 years of relevant legal experience.
- Prior experience supporting an in-house legal department is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of commercial contracts, advertising and marketing law, intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities, along with sound commercial judgment.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, take ownership of work, and succeed in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
