Graves, Fifth Circuit Public Defender, is seeking dedicated and experienced attorneys to serve as Assistant Public Defenders in our Lake and Citrus County Offices. Assistant Public Defenders have the unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day by providing high-quality legal representation to individuals facing criminal charges who cannot afford an attorney. The Fifth Circuit encompasses Lake, Marion, Hernando, Citrus, and Sumter Counties, offering a diverse and challenging caseload.
What Youll Do:
Advocate for clients through case analysis, motion practice, and jury trials. Prepare cases using both office and community resources. Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining communication and individualized client attention. Counsel and advise clients to achieve the best possible outcomes. Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and the legal community. Employ innovative, holistic defense strategies to advance justice.
What Were Looking For:
Applicants in good standing with the Florida Bar. Recent law graduates awaiting bar results and 3L students scheduled to sit for the Florida Bar will also be considered. Written and verbal communication skills. Professional demeanor, integrity, and a passion for excellence in advocacy. A true dedication to public service and a commitment to protecting constitutional rights.
Specialized Degree Work Schedule:
Full time
Salary:
$75,000 - $80,000 per year.
