The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law and litigation, with the ability to handle complex legal issues related to detainee rights and federal habeas corpus petitions. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by advocating for clients facing immigration detention challenges, utilizing comprehensive legal research and drafting skills within a collaborative law office environment. Duties Prepare and file Habeas Corpus petitions on behalf of clients detained under immigration laws Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies Draft legal documents, motions, and pleadings with precision and clarity Advocate for clients during hearings and negotiations related to immigration detention cases Collaborate with colleagues on cases involving estate planning, environmental law, family law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, and other areas as needed Maintain detailed case files and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements Stay updated on changes in immigration policies and relevant federal regulations affecting habeas corpus proceedings Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with active bar admission in relevant jurisdiction Proven experience in immigration law, particularly habeas corpus litigation Strong knowledge of legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting skills Experience in litigation and negotiation within a law office setting Familiarity with a broad range of legal areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law Legal administrative experience preferred but not required Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal issues effectively Commitment to client advocacy and ethical practice standards
