Job Description
Our client, a local county State's Attorney Office just outside of Rockford, IL, is seeking a motivated Assistant State's Attorney to join its prosecutorial team. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a newly licensed or early-career attorney to gain significant responsibility, including managing an independent caseload, regular court appearances, motion practice, plea negotiations, and trial work.
ResponsibilitiesWork closely with local, county, and state law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute criminal offenses including: Traffic offenses, DUI and impaired driving cases, Misdemeanor offenses, F elony criminal cases, and Juvenile delinquency proceedingsReview and evaluate police reports, evidence, and charging decisionsConduct arraignments, bond hearings, motion hearings, bench trials, and jury trialsNegotiate plea agreements and make sentencing recommendationsPrepare pleadings, motions, briefs, legal opinions, recommendations, and other court documentsProvide victim and witness assistance, resources, and referrals to appropriate support servicesProvide legal advice and counsel to county officials and departments/agencies regarding legal issues affecting county operationsAssist with Orders of Protection and related court proceedingsCompensation & BenefitsBase salary: $75,000
