Job Description
About us The Stephenson County State's Attorney's Office is seeking an Assistant State's Attorney to prosecute traffic, DUI, and misdemeanor offenses on behalf of the People of the State of Illinois. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed or early-career attorney to manage an active caseload, appear regularly in court, and build a strong foundation in criminal trial practice. The position offers a genuine mix of autonomy and support: you will be responsible for your own docket and case decisions while working alongside experienced prosecutors who provide mentorship, second-chair opportunities, and guidance as you develop. Attorneys in this role gain courtroom experience quickly and progress toward more serious matters as their skills grow.
