Our client, a local county State's Attorney Office just outside of Rockford, IL, is seeking a motivated Assistant State's Attorney to join its prosecutorial team. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a newly licensed or early-career attorney to gain significant responsibility, including managing an independent caseload, regular court appearances, motion practice, plea negotiations, and trial work. Responsibilities Work closely with local, county, and state law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute criminal offenses including: Traffic offenses, DUI and impaired driving cases, Misdemeanor offenses, F elony criminal cases, and Juvenile delinquency proceedings Review and evaluate police reports, evidence, and charging decisions Conduct arraignments, bond hearings, motion hearings, bench trials, and jury trials Negotiate plea agreements and make sentencing recommendations Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, legal opinions, recommendations, and other court documents Provide victim and witness assistance, resources, and referrals to appropriate support services Provide legal advice and counsel to county officials and departments/agencies regarding legal issues affecting county operations Assist with Orders of Protection and related court proceedings Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $75,000
