Job Description

A Chicago-area law firm with an active commercial litigation practice is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with business clients, handle substantive litigation responsibilities, and gain exposure to a broad range of commercial disputes from the early stages of a case through resolution. The firm represents businesses, business owners, and professionals in a broad range of commercial disputes, including contract matters, partnership and shareholder disputes, business torts, fiduciary duty claims, and other complex litigation matters. Attorneys are encouraged to take ownership of their cases while working closely with experienced litigators and trial attorneys. Responsibilities Manage commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses. Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy recommendations. Take and defend depositions. Participate in court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations. Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses. Assist with trial preparation and trial work as needed. Collaborate with attorneys on complex business disputes and litigation strategy. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Active Illinois bar license in good standing. 2+ years of commercial, business, or civil litigation experience. Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills. Experience handling discovery, motion practice, and court appearances. Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently. Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
