  • Family Law Libertyville, Illinois | Full-Time$65,000
  • 90,000 per year We are a small, established family law practice looking for a new or early-career attorneywho wants to learn, grow, and develop into a confident family law litigator.
Prior family law experience is not required, but previous experience working in a law firm or similar setting is required. This is an opportunity to work directly with an experienced family law attorney and receive meaningful, hands-on experience from the beginning. You won't be one of dozens of junior associates. You'll have the opportunity to participate in cases, interact with clients, attend court, develop litigation skills, and gradually take on your own matters—with guidance and support along the way. What You'll Do Work directly with the firm's principal attorney on divorce and family law matters Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents Conduct legal research and assist in developing case strategy Communicate with clients and opposing counsel Prepare financial affidavits and discovery responses Prepare for and attend court appearances, hearings, conferences, and other proceedings Learn how to manage a family law case from beginning to end Gradually assume greater responsibility and independently manage matters as your experience develops Assist principal attorney in court, including trial preparation and depositions. Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is bright, dependable, organized, personable, and eager to learn. Family law experience is not necessary, but a genuine interest in litigation and helping clients through difficult situations is important.
Candidates should have:
J.D. from an accredited law school Illinois law license or anticipated Illinois admission Strong writing and communication skills Good judgment and attention to detail Strong organizational and time-management skills A professional and respectful approach to clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and take on increasing responsibility Experience with Smokeball or other legal practice-management software is a plus, but absolutely not required. Why Join Us? A small firm offers something that's difficult to replicate in a larger environment: direct mentorship and meaningful experience early in your career. You'll work closely with the principal attorney, see how cases are actually handled from intake through resolution, and have the opportunity to develop courtroom and client-management skills at a pace appropriate for your experience. We're looking for someone who wants to become an excellent family law attorney—not someone who is expected to know everything on day one. Compensation $65,000
  • 90,000 per year , depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated abilities.
There is opportunity for compensation growth as you develop your skills, assume greater responsibility, and increase productivity. If you're a new attorney looking for a place where you can receive real training, meaningful experience, and the opportunity to grow with a small practice, we'd love to hear from you.
