Job Description
A growing insurance organization is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys working closely with the business, handling sophisticated commercial contracts, and serving as a strategic advisor across a variety of legal and operational matters. Working within a lean and highly collaborative legal department, this individual will have broad exposure across commercial, regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters while partnering directly with senior leadership and business stakeholders. Responsibilities Draft, review, negotiate, and structure complex commercial agreements. Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business partners across the organization. Provide guidance on regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters. Oversee and support regulatory licensing and filing processes. Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risk while supporting business objectives. Manage outside counsel relationships as needed. Mentor and provide oversight to legal support staff. Handle a wide variety of legal issues in a fast-paced, business-focused environment. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership. 8+ years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and/or in-house experience. Strong commercial contract drafting, negotiation, and structuring experience. Experience advising business teams on legal and regulatory matters. Background within insurance, financial services, reinsurance, construction, or other highly regulated industries is preferred but not required. Ability to think commercially and provide practical legal advice. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and sound judgment. Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take ownership of diverse legal matters.
