Associate Attorney The Law Office of Chris Miller, LLC West Dundee, IL Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $80,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Qualifications Customer communication Law Caseload management Writing skills Client rapport building Doctor of Law (JD) Client services Client management Relationship management Legal case management Bar Time management Full Job Description The ideal candidate is an attorney who is confident in their legal research and writing abilities, comfortable communicating directly with clients, and eager to continue developing their courtroom and transactional skills. Our practice is diverse, and the Associate Attorney will have the opportunity to work across several areas of law, with a primary focus on: Family Law Estate Planning Residential Real Estate Transactions Commercial Real Estate Transactions Business Purchases & Sales General Civil Matters Family law experience is strongly preferred. Experience in estate planning, real estate, business transactions, or general civil litigation is a significant plus. Responsibilities Depending on experience and practice area, responsibilities may include: Represent clients in family law matters from initial consultation through resolution. Prepare for and attend court appearances throughout Kane, McHenry, and DeKalb Counties. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, contracts, correspondence, and other legal documents. Conduct thorough legal research and apply statutes, case law, and procedural rules to client matters. Prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents. Assist clients with residential and commercial real estate transactions. Assist with business purchases, sales, and related transactional matters. Manage assigned cases and maintain organized, up-to-date case files. Participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, negotiations, and trial preparation as appropriate. Prepare evidence, organize case materials, and assist with witness and trial preparation. Communicate directly with clients regarding case updates, legal options, strategy, and next steps. Develop and maintain strong, professional client relationships. Manage multiple matters while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail. Work closely with the firm's owner on case strategy, client representation, and continued development of the practice. Contribute ideas and initiative as the firm continues to grow.
What We're Looking For Required:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Active Illinois Bar license and membership in good standing. 2-4 years of legal experience. Strong legal research and writing skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate directly and professionally with clients. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently. Professional judgment, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and providing exceptional client service.
Preferred:
Experience practicing family law. Experience with estate planning. Experience with residential or commercial real estate. Experience with civil litigation and courtroom appearances. Experience with business transactions. Familiarity with LexisNexis and/or Westlaw. Strong negotiation and advocacy skills. An interest in developing a long-term career within a growing law practice.
