About the Role Cambient is seeking a Director of Tax and Estate Planning to lead the planning side of our client relationships. This individual will work directly with client families on trust, estate, gift, succession, and income tax strategy. The role works alongside, but independently from, the investment team to ensure that each family's tax and estate planning remains current and coordinated with its broader wealth plan. The Director will maintain close working relationships with clients' CPAs and estate attorneys, proactively identify planning opportunities, and represent the tax and estate perspective in client meetings. This is an opportunity to shape and lead a growing tax and estate planning function within an independent multi-family office. Primary Responsibilities Lead client discussions involving trust, estate, gift, succession, and income tax strategy. Develop forward-looking tax-planning strategies for clients and their closely held businesses. Maintain a current understanding of each client family's tax and estate position. Coordinate regularly with clients' CPAs, estate attorneys, and other outside advisors. Translate completed tax returns and planning documents into actionable planning opportunities. Interpret and communicate relevant tax-law changes to clients and the Cambient team. Direct estate, gift, and succession-planning initiatives across client families. Coordinate responses to IRS and state tax inquiries with clients' outside professionals. Represent tax and estate planning in multidisciplinary client meetings alongside Cambient's wealth advisors. Help strengthen the firm's planning processes and build the tax and estate planning function as Cambient grows. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Active CPA or JD designation required. Master's in Taxation or LL.M. in Taxation is a plus. At least eight years of progressive tax and estate planning experience in public accounting, law, wealth management, or a family office. Experience advising high-net-worth families, closely held businesses, entrepreneurs, or family offices. Deep working knowledge of estate, gift, trust, tax, and succession-planning strategies. Strong judgment, analytical ability, communication skills, and attention to detail. A high degree of discretion, professionalism, accountability, and client focus.
