We are looking for an accomplished, detail-oriented legal counsel to serve as Contract Senior Corporate Counsel for a long-term contract opportunity supporting an automotive manufacturing organization in Novi, Michigan. This in-house counsel position will provide practical, business-focused legal advice across employment matters, compliance considerations, and commercial transactions. The role is ideal for an attorney who can balance risk management with operational needs while partnering closely with business and HR leaders.

Responsibilities:

Counsel internal stakeholders on workplace law issues, employee relations concerns, and related legal obligations affecting day-to-day operations. Provide timely guidance to business leaders and HR partners on employment regulations, policy interpretation, and compliance-related questions. Prepare, review, and negotiate a range of business agreements, including vendor contracts, supplier terms, confidentiality agreements, and other transactional documents. Assess proposed contract language to identify legal exposure, operational impact, and commercial risk, then recommend practical solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support broader corporate legal needs and help align legal strategy with business objectives. Offer clear, solution-oriented advice that helps internal clients make informed decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. At least 5 years of legal experience in corporate counsel, commercial contracting, or a comparable in-house legal environment. Direct background in the automotive manufacturing industry is required. Proven ability to draft, review, research, and negotiate commercial agreements such as supplier contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and similar transactional documents. Strong knowledge of labor and employment law, including experience advising on employee relations and workplace compliance matters. Licensed attorney with the ability to provide in-house legal support on corporate and commercial issues. Sound understanding of legal and regulatory principles affecting commercial agreements, with the ability to apply them to complex business situations. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a track record of working effectively with business and HR stakeholders. Flexibility and adaptability to changing business priorities and evolving client needs.
