Job Description

The Nunley Law Group, PLLC is seeking an experienced paralegal to join our growing litigation practice. Our firm handles a diverse caseload with a primary focus on family law and civil litigation. We are looking for someone who can take an active role in managing cases from beginning to end and who is comfortable working independently in a busy law practice. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate has substantial experience working in a Michigan law office and understands how to keep cases moving without requiring constant direction. Responsibilities The paralegal will work directly with attorneys and clients and will assist with all phases of family law and civil litigation, including: Preparing and filing pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, and other court documents; Preparing and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and other discovery; Reviewing and organizing financial records, discovery responses, medical records, and other case materials; Communicating regularly with clients regarding documents, deadlines, scheduling, and case status; Preparing hearing, deposition, mediation, and trial exhibits and binders; Coordinating depositions, hearings, mediations, and other case-related matters; Monitoring court deadlines and scheduling-order dates; E-filing in Michigan state courts; Assisting attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, evidentiary hearings, and trials; and Maintaining organized and current electronic case files. Qualifications 5+ years of Michigan family law and/or civil litigation experience preferred; Strong knowledge of Michigan court procedures and e-filing; Experience with Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County courts is a significant plus; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to independently manage deadlines and multiple active cases; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Comfortable communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other professionals; Ability to review a file, identify what needs to be done next, and take initiative; Experience with MyCase or similar law-practice management software is preferred but not required. A paralegal certificate or degree is not required . Substantial experience as a litigation or family-law legal assistant will be considered.
Compensation & Schedule Salary:
$60,000-$70,000 per year, depending on experience, with bonus opportunities. Exceptional candidates with substantial Michigan family-law and litigation experience may be considered above the stated range. This is a full-time position. We offer paid time off, paid holidays, and a professional but relaxed small-firm environment. Some scheduling flexibility may be available after the successful completion of an initial training period. About the Firm The Nunley Law Group is a Michigan litigation firm handling family law, civil litigation, Social Security disability, and other contested matters. We are a small firm where staff members have meaningful involvement in cases and work directly with the attorneys handling them.
