A Family Lawyer is a legal professional who deals with family-related issues and domestic relations. Most family law practices focus on representing clients in a divorce and the issues related to divorce such as the division of marital property, child custody and support, and alimony.
Arnold & Smith, PLLC, is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our office. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced legal environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage attorneys' calendars and plan far in advance for upcoming deadlines. Work closely with litigation attorneys, ensuring that cases progress smoothly and deadlines are met. Field clients' calls and emails in a timely and professional manner. Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients regarding case updates, discovery requests, and overall case strategy. File legal documents with state and federal courts, manage service of process, and ensure all filings comply with court rules and deadlines. Proactively track and manage litigation deadlines, including discovery deadlines, expert testimony, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial dates. Prepare and respond to discovery requests, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and filed in a timely manner. Assist in preparation for trials, depositions, and mediations, and provide ongoing support throughout the litigation process. Support litigation attorneys and collaborate with other team members to ensure cases are moving forward efficiently. Maintain client confidentiality at all times. Manage all aspects of case organization, including correspondence from clients, courts, and opposing counsel, ensuring timely and efficient handling of all documents. Draft and manage documents. Assist attorneys as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Friendly disposition and excellent phone etiquette. Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities. Ability to perform job duties independently. Self-motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. Ability to type 40+ words per minute. Experience in drafting legal documents. Ability to work well in a collaborative, team-based environment. Capable of completing tasks with minimal direct supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, displaying professionalism and respect. Must pass a background check.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Paralegal is required. A paralegal certification or a relevant undergraduate degree is preferred. Experience with legal and timekeeping software is preferred.

This position is entirely on-site at our Uptown Charlotte office.
