Litigation Attorney - General Business, Commercial & Insurance Defense Litigation | Portsmouth, NH | 4+ Years Experience | NH Bar Required A leading Northern New England business and litigation law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its team. Based out of its Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with satellite offices in Concord and Manchester, New Hampshire, the firm represents individuals, businesses, and nonprofits across a broad range of practice areas, including business and commercial litigation, construction litigation, insurance defense, medical and professional malpractice, personal injury, probate litigation, employment litigation, domestic relations, intellectual property litigation, real estate, bankruptcy, and corporate law. The firm's attorneys have shaped New Hampshire law and public policy for generations, handling some of the state's largest business transactions, bankruptcy cases, and damage awards, and successfully defending against some of the largest claims. Its attorneys have gone on to serve as New Hampshire Supreme Court justices, federal judges, a governor, and bar association leaders, and remain active on the boards of major nonprofits, universities, and charitable organizations, with a strong tradition of pro bono work.
Role Overview:
This position covers a full range of litigation matters — including general business and commercial litigation, insurance defense, medical malpractice, probate litigation, domestic relations, construction litigation, and employment litigation — with direct client interaction and close collaboration with firm attorneys.
Responsibilities:
Research and analyze complex legal issues; draft memoranda for supervising attorneys Synthesize legal research and draft pleadings Draft and respond to written discovery requests Take and defend depositions Appear at mediation and represent clients in court for motions hearings and trial
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution J.D. from an accredited law school Active New Hampshire Bar License 4+ years of experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm Exceptional written and oral communication skills Strong legal research and analytical skills Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment Strong problem-solving ability and sound judgment Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment Client-service focused with strong attention to detail and work ethic
