Join Dorsey & Semrau, a well-established Morris County firm specializing in municipal representation, where your work directly impacts New Jersey communities. Dorsey & Semrau is a mid-sized, Morris County law firm with a strong concentration in municipal law and public sector representation. We are seeking an attorney to join our growing team in Boonton.
Who We're Looking For:
A licensed attorney with a minimum of 1 year of litigation experience Prior experience representing public entities is preferred Strong working knowledge of OPRA, OPMA, Title 59 defense, and related New Jersey public law is preferred Excellent writing, analytical, and courtroom skills Willingness to attend some evening municipal meetings is essential Tax appeal experience is a plus
Job Requirements:
Daily interaction with municipal employees, Governing Bodies, and other public officials Drafting resolutions and ordinances on a wide range of public issues Conducting legal research and preparing formal legal opinions for municipal clients Responding promptly to a high volume of emails and telephone inquiries Representing public entities in day-to-day responsibilities attending in-person, evening, public meetings Requirements JD and admission to the New Jersey Bar Minimum 1 year of litigation and public law experience Familiarity with New Jersey municipal law preferred Strong legal research and writing skills Comfortable with in-person evening meetings Previous experience with public entities preferred
