Family Law Associate Attorney Location:
Livingston, NJ Employment Type:
Full-Time, On-Site Salary:
$125,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Family Law Associate Attorney with a minimum of 6-7 years of New Jersey Family Law experience to join our established practice in Livingston, NJ. The ideal candidate will have strong courtroom experience, exceptional legal research and writing skills, and the ability to independently manage complex family law matters. Candidates with New York Family Law experience and admission to the NY Bar are preferred, particularly those with experience appearing in both New Jersey and New York courts. But, New Jersey Bar and New Jersey Court experience is required. Responsibilities Manage family law matters from initial consultation through settlement, litigation, and resolution . Handle matters involving divorce, custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, domestic violence, and related family law issues . Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents . Conduct thorough legal research and develop effective case strategies. Represent clients in New Jersey Family Court , including hearings, conferences, mediations, negotiations, and trials. Negotiate with opposing counsel and work toward favorable settlements and resolutions. Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic legal advice throughout their matters. Independently manage caseloads, court deadlines, discovery, and case progression. Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case management. Maintain strong client relationships and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Qualifications Minimum 6-7 years of hands-on New Jersey Family Law experience . New Jersey Bar admission required . Strong New Jersey Family Court and litigation experience. Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom skills . Ability to work independently, manage multiple matters, and take initiative. Strong communication and client-management skills. New York Bar admission and New York Family Law experience strongly preferred for candidates expected to handle matters in both states. Must be available to work full-time, 5 days per week in the Livingston office . Ability to work from the firm's New York office when court appearances are required . Candidates with an established portable book of business are strongly preferred . Compensation $125,000-$200,000 , commensurate with years of experience, reputation within the family law community, hands-on experience, and the extent of any portable book of business.
