About Us Hochhauser Criminal & DWI Defense, PLLC is a rapidly growing criminal defense firm dedicated to providing aggressive, compassionate, and high-quality legal representation to our clients. We believe that everyone deserves a vigorous defense and a fair trial. As our practice expands, we are looking for a dedicated and driven Associate Attorney to join our team. We offer a collaborative environment where you will gain hands-on courtroom experience, receive dedicated mentorship from seasoned trial attorneys, and have the opportunity to grow your career alongside the firm. The Role As an Associate Attorney, you will manage your own caseload from arraignment to disposition, working closely with our senior attorneys on complex felony and misdemeanor cases. Your fluency in Spanish will be essential in ensuring our Spanish-speaking clients receive clear communication, empathetic counsel, and exceptional representation.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent clients in criminal court proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, conferences, and trials. Communicate directly and frequently with clients—both in English and Spanish—to provide case updates, explain legal strategies, and prepare them for court appearances. Conduct legal research, analyze evidence, and review discovery. Draft pre-trial motions, legal memoranda, and plea agreements. Negotiate with prosecutors and advocate fiercely on behalf of our clients. Visit clients in custody when necessary.
Qualifications Education & Licensure:
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the NY State Bar.
Language Skills:
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (fluency in speaking, reading, and writing is strictly required).
Experience:
Prior experience in criminal law is strongly preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong passion for criminal defense.
Skills:
Strong courtroom presence and oral advocacy skills. Excellent legal writing and research abilities. Ability to think quickly on your feet and manage a high-volume caseload. High degree of empathy and professionalism when dealing with clients facing difficult situations. Pay:
$75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
