Job Description

Description Our client, who is a Syracuse law firm, is looking for a motivated Associate to join a litigation practice focused on real estate matters in Syracuse, New York. This opportunity is suited for an attorney who can manage varied property-related disputes, communicate effectively with clients, and contribute to case strategy from the early stages of litigation through resolution. The role offers exposure to both state and federal proceedings while working closely with experienced attorneys and colleagues across related legal disciplines.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage a diverse caseload involving real estate disputes, including property ownership conflicts, lease-related matters, contract disagreements, boundary and easement issues, construction claims, and creditor or foreclosure proceedings.
  • Partner with senior lawyers to assess legal risks, shape litigation strategy, and advance cases in alignment with client objectives.
  • Prepare litigation documents such as complaints, answers, motions, briefs, and written discovery with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Oversee the discovery process from start to finish, including document review, responses, productions, and electronically stored information.
  • Conduct and defend depositions while developing testimony records that support overall case positions.
  • Appear on behalf of clients in hearings, conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings in state and federal courts.
  • Advise clients on legal developments and practical business considerations related to ongoing disputes and potential resolutions.
  • Foster strong client relationships through responsive communication, sound judgment, and dependable service.
  • Work with attorneys in complementary practice areas to deliver coordinated legal solutions for complex matters. Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree and admission to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • At least 1 year of experience in litigation, with exposure to civil or real estate-related matters preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft motions, pleadings, legal memoranda, and discovery materials.
  • Experience handling or supporting depositions and other core litigation activities.
  • Working knowledge of civil litigation procedure, including case management and discovery obligations.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters effectively while maintaining high attention to detail standards.
