Job Description

Miller Canfield, an international law firm known for providing a broad range of integrated services to meet the needs of clients worldwide, seeks an associate to join its Export Controls and Sanctions Practice, which is part of the firm's Chambers-ranked Corporate / M&A practice. This position will be based in our Troy, Michigan office and is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is eager to work at a highly respected firm with strong international capabilities. Attorneys joining the Miller Canfield Export Controls and Sanctions Practice will develop the experience necessary to expertly navigate through the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), OFAC Sanctions Programs, and other regulations applicable to controlled transactions and the possession and export of controlled technologies. The additional practice specialties of exposure will include U.S. government contracts, U.S. Customs and Border Protection law and regulations, and foreign investment approvals with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). While prior experience in this specialized area is not an absolute prerequisite, ideal candidates will have 2-4 years of corporate transactions experience and be expected to work in the area of international trade regulation. Excellent academic credentials and research, writing and analytical skills required; a history of some article publication will be a distinguishing factor from other candidates. Must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan or eligible for admission, either by examination or waiver. This position may include access to technology and/or software source code that is subject to U.S. export controls restrictions. Miller Canfield will not apply for an export control license on behalf of any employee or applicant, nor will it rely on any license exception for any employee or applicant. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ GIH-GBL_virecruit-virecruit_millercanfieldselfapply_t825578035
