Job Description

State Regulatory Attorney (Pennsylvania) Our client, a large investor-owned electric utility serving customers across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, is currently seeking a State Regulatory Attorney to join its legal team. This position will work closely with business units, internal counsel, and outside counsel on regulatory matters before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and related appellate proceedings. What You'll Do:
Handle legal and regulatory matters before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and appellate courts.
  • Assist with complex regulatory proceedings, including rate cases, complaint proceedings, and rulemaking matters.
  • Draft and review legal pleadings, briefs, motions, testimony, and business documents.
  • Provide legal support and strategic guidance to business units on regulatory compliance and emerging legal developments.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and outside counsel on ongoing regulatory matters.
  • Represent the company in mediation, litigation, and customer dispute proceedings.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting electric utilities and advise clients accordingly.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting strict regulatory and litigation deadlines.
What You'll Need:
J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 5 years of in-house or law firm legal experience in utility regulation.
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar and in good standing.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn new subject matters.
  • Prior experience with state public utility regulation, administrative law, or regulatory proceedings is preferred.
  • Electric utility industry experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
