Summary:

Individual will perform legal functions for the County through the office of the District Attorney.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor and felony criminal caseload from preliminary hearing through trial and appeal. Prepares and argues motions and appeals in the Court of Common Pleas and Appellate Courts. Works closely with law enforcement in the preparation and prosecution of cases. Advises and counsels civilian and police witnesses, and victims in preparation for trial or pre-trial hearings. Conducts legal research with Pretrial Motions, Trial Preparation, and Appellate Issues. Represents the Commonwealth in Juvenile court proceedings including authorization for plea negotiations and consensual wire taps. Represents the Commonwealth in Summary Appeals. Represents the Commonwealth in Pre-Trial Conferences. Reviews and Approves Search Warrants. Authorizes consensual interceptions related to Pennsylvania Wiretap Act. Advises police officers on the drafting of Criminal Complaints, Search Warrants and Statements of Probable Cause. Advises police officers working in the field on charging decisions and investigations. Responds to questions from law enforcement personnel. Represents the Commonwealth in Post-Conviction Relief Act Hearings in the Court of Common Pleas and Appeals there from to the Superior and Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania. Represents the Commonwealth as Respondent in Federal Court Proceedings, including Habeas Corpus Petitions. Keeps abreast of developments in law; attends training; complies with continuing education requirements in order to maintain active license. Negotiates plea bargains. Prosecutes Jury and Non-Jury Criminal Cases. Drafts letters for plea bargains and attends Preliminary Hearings. Responsible for preparation of files for Central Court. Responsible for follow-up on seized assets from Law Enforcement. Attends meetings, training and seminars as required. Maintains regular and on-time attendance. Performs other related functions as assigned or required.

From $66,536.00 per year
