Job Description
We are seeking an experienced attorney to support a global healthcare organization during a critical period of regulatory, compliance, and workforce initiatives. This attorney will serve as a trusted advisor to Human Resources, Compliance, Operations, and Legal leadership on a broad range of employment law matters affecting a diverse workforce across the United States and, where applicable, international jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in labor and employment law, workplace compliance, policy development, employee relations, workforce training, and regulatory risk management. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive, self-directed professional capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment. Responsibilities Employment Law & Regulatory Compliance Provide legal counsel regarding federal, state, and local employment laws impacting healthcare operations. Advise on compliance with wage and hour laws, leave and accommodation requirements, anti-discrimination statutes, employee classification issues, and workplace safety regulations. Monitor and interpret new and emerging employment law developments and assess organizational impact. Partner with HR and Compliance teams to implement compliant employment practices across multiple jurisdictions. Healthcare Workforce Compliance Support compliance initiatives related to healthcare workforce requirements, including mandatory employee certifications, licensure tracking, vaccinations, workplace safety requirements, and regulatory training obligations. Advise on workforce issues arising from healthcare accreditation standards and regulatory agency requirements. Assist with audits, investigations, and internal reviews involving employment practices and workforce compliance. Policy Development & Governance Draft, review, and update employment-related policies, handbooks, codes of conduct, and workplace procedures. Lead policy harmonization efforts across business units and geographic regions. Ensure policies reflect current legal requirements and organizational objectives. Support implementation of new workplace legislation and regulatory mandates. Training & Education Develop and deliver employment law and compliance training programs for HR professionals, managers, and employees. Oversee mandatory training initiatives, including harassment prevention, workplace violence prevention, code of conduct, ethics, diversity and inclusion, and compliance education. Create practical legal guidance materials and manager toolkits to support consistent employee practices. Employee Relations & Workplace Investigations Provide legal guidance on employee relations matters, disciplinary actions, performance management, reductions in force, and separations. Support investigations involving workplace complaints, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misconduct, and policy violations. Partner with HR leadership to develop risk-based resolutions and corrective action strategies. Occupational Health & Workplace Safety Advise on workplace safety requirements and occupational health compliance programs. Support implementation of workplace violence prevention initiatives and related policies. Assist in managing legal risks associated with employee health and safety obligations. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Human Resources, Compliance, Privacy, Employee Relations, Operations, and executive leadership. Coordinate with external counsel as needed on complex employment matters. Contribute to strategic workforce projects, acquisitions, reorganizations, and organizational change initiatives. Requirements Required Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 10 years of employment law experience, preferably supporting large, multi-state employers. Demonstrated expertise in labor and employment compliance, workplace investigations, policy development, and employee relations. Experience advising on complex regulatory requirements in highly regulated industries. Preferred Healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, hospital system, or healthcare services industry experience. Experience supporting global or multinational organizations. Familiarity with OSHA, healthcare workforce regulations, leave laws, and workplace safety programs. Experience designing and delivering compliance training programs.
