Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our practice in Ukiah, CA on a partially remote basis to begin, with the end goal of converting full time in the office after 90-days. The ideal candidate will handle a diverse casework load within California family law, managing matters from initial client intake through judgment or final disposition. This position requires strong legal analysis, precise drafting capabilities, proactive litigation management, and effective negotiation skills.
Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of dedicated family law practice experience in
California Bar Admission:
Active licensee in good standing with the
State Bar of California Residency:
Must currently reside within the State of California.
Work Authorization:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with computer skills and software
Key Responsibilities Case Management & Strategy:
Manage assigned family law matters, developing strategy aligned with client goals and statutory requirements under the California Family Code.
Drafting & Pleading Preparation:
Prepare court filings, including Requests for Order (RFO), petitions, responses, declarations, marital settlement agreements (MSA), stipulated judgments, emergency orders (ex parte applications), and preliminary/final financial disclosures.
Court Appearances & Advocacy:
Represent clients in family law court litigation including law and motion hearings, evidentiary hearings, and settlement or in-person appearance as required.
Client Consultation & Communication:
Conduct client intakes, maintain regular communication regarding case updates, manage expectations clearly, and gather necessary facts and financial documents.
Discovery & Financial Analysis:
Draft and respond to written discovery (Interrogatories, Requests for Production of Documents, Requests for Admission), prepare preliminary and final declarations of disclosure, subpoena third-party records, evaluate community property divisions, and analyze complex income disclosures. Preferred Competencies Proven ability to work independently in a remote office environment while maintaining strict deadline compliance. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, characterized by legal precision and clarity. Experience in family law mediation, collaborative practice, or complex financial tracing is an asset.
