Associate Attorney - Family Law Rockford Family Law | Rockford, Illinois Remote/Hybrid |
Independent Contractor Compensation:
$100,000-$120,000 per year Rockford Family Law is seeking an experienced, motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing family law practice. This is a remote/hybrid independent contractor position offering flexibility while working with an established and busy family law firm. We are looking for an attorney who is confident, responsive, organized, and capable of taking ownership of cases while working collaboratively with attorneys and support staff. Position Responsibilities The Associate Attorney will handle a variety of Illinois family law matters, including: Dissolution of marriage and legal separation matters Allocation of parental responsibilities and parenting time Child support and maintenance Parentage matters Orders of Protection Post-decree enforcement and modification proceedings Discovery and financial issues Settlement negotiations and pretrial conferences Motion practice and evidentiary hearings Client communication and case strategy Drafting pleadings, motions, proposed orders, settlement agreements, and other legal documents Court appearances, both remotely and in person when required Qualifications Licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar Two or more years of attorney experience preferred Family law and courtroom experience required Strong written and oral advocacy skills Ability to independently manage a caseload and deadlines Excellent communication skills with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel Comfortable handling contested matters and appearing in court Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative team Familiarity with Illinois family law statutes, Supreme Court Rules, and court procedures preferred What We Are Looking For The right candidate is someone who takes ownership of their cases and does not need to be micromanaged. We value attorneys who are proactive, practical, responsive, and able to identify solutions rather than simply identify problems. We are looking for someone who understands that excellent family law representation requires both strong advocacy and good judgment. The ideal candidate knows when an issue needs to be litigated aggressively and when a practical resolution better serves the client. Our practice is fast-paced, and we need an attorney who can prioritize effectively, communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and keep cases moving forward.
Compensation & Work Arrangement Compensation:
$100,000-$120,000 per year , depending upon experience and qualifications. This is an independent contractor position with a remote/hybrid work arrangement . The attorney may perform a significant portion of the position remotely but must be available for in-person court appearances, client meetings, or other matters when necessary. The firm has two locations; one based in Rockford, Illinois and one based in Davis, Illinois, servicing the surrounding Northern Illinois area . Why Rockford Family Law?
