Grady Richardson, Jr., P.C. is seeking a motivated attorney to join the firm as an Associate Attorney. The firm is a general practice with primary areas of emphasis that include Civil Litigation, Land Use and Zoning, Municipal Law, Business Law, and Contract Law. The ideal candidate would have between one and three years of experience practicing law and must be licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar. The associate attorney will work closely with the firm's attorneys and clients while gaining hands-on experience across all stages of legal matters. This position requires strong legal research, writing, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage assignments independently and meet applicable deadlines.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, contracts, and other legal documents. Drafting, interpreting, analyzing, negotiating, and finalizing contracts and agreements. Negotiating transactions and agreements with outside business entities and organizations. Overseeing and negotiating interactions with outside counsel. Assisting with civil litigation matters, including discovery, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials. Assisting with matters involving land use and zoning. Communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, government officials, and other parties. Reviewing and analyzing documents, evidence, public records, and case-related materials. Managing assigned matters and complying with court, filing, and transactional deadlines. Working collaboratively with the firm's attorneys and support staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including consensus building. Working knowledge of laws, regulations, financial compliance, and best practices in the field. Knowledge of contract law, general real property law, employment law, land use and land zoning, and civil litigation. Strong legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills. Credible and discreet, with a high level of integrity and the ability to work with highly confidential and privileged information. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Ability to prioritize and meet multiple and competing deadlines. Administrative skills and attention to detail. Excellent attention to detail and time-management abilities. Sound professional judgment and a commitment to providing high-quality legal representation.
Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements:
Juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Valid license to practice law in North Carolina. Member of the North Carolina State Bar in good standing. 1-3 years of experience preferred at a law firm as a licensed Attorney or as in-house counsel.
