Associate Attorney - Litigation & Transactional Practice About the Position Our growing Upstate New York law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our litigation and transactional practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of matters, assume meaningful responsibility, communicate directly with clients, and develop practical experience in both litigation and transactional law. The ideal candidate will have between one and five years of legal experience. We are looking for an attorney who is organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing assignments independently while working collaboratively with the firm's attorneys and staff. The position is initially on-site. After six months, the attorney may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement based on satisfactory performance, the needs of the firm, and applicable firm policies.
Responsibilities Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with litigation matters from initial intake through resolution Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, legal memoranda, settlement documents, and correspondence Conducting legal research and analyzing legal and factual issues Appearing at court conferences, hearings, depositions, and other proceedings Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other professionals Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, agreements, closing documents, and other transactional materials Assisting with due diligence, closings, and the completion of transactional matters Managing deadlines, maintaining organized files, and accurately recording time and case activity Working collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff Handling additional matters based on the attorney's experience and the needs of the firm Qualifications Applicants should have: Admission to practice law in New York State and be in good standing Approximately one to five years of legal experience Litigation, transactional, or other relevant legal experience Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Professional judgment and careful attention to detail The ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines The ability to work independently and as part of a team A professional, responsive, and client-focused approach to practicing law Experience with court appearances, discovery, depositions, motion practice, negotiations, contract drafting, real estate matters, or closings is preferred.
