Description We are looking for an Associate to join a boutique legal practice in Carlsbad, California. This Contract to permanent position offers the chance to work on sophisticated matters spanning environmental, land use, litigation, municipal, real estate, construction, airport, and business issues within a collaborative team setting. The role is well suited for an attorney who brings strong legal writing and litigation skills, values close partnership with experienced colleagues, and is seeking long-term career growth in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Handle legal work across litigation and advisory matters involving environmental, land use, municipal, business, construction, airport, and real estate topics
• Research statutes, regulations, and case law, and prepare clear, well-supported memoranda, motions, pleadings, and briefs
• Contribute to discovery strategy, document review, hearing preparation, and overall case development
• Examine regulatory and compliance-related materials and provide thoughtful legal analysis on findings and risk considerations
• Participate in client discussions, hearings, and project-related proceedings as part of active matter support
• Partner closely with attorneys across the firm to advance multiple matters simultaneously
• Assist with administrative proceedings and other forums requiring organized factual and legal preparation Requirements
• Active license to practice law in California
• Demonstrated background in civil litigation
• Strong ability to draft motions and other legal documents with precision and clarity
• Experience conducting legal research and applying analytical judgment to complex matters
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage work independently while collaborating effectively with others
• Clear and detail-focused communication skills suited to client interaction, hearings, and team coordination
• Experience with depositions is valued
