Job Description
Seeking a Bilingual Legal Assistant who is fluent in English and Spanish to join a legal team. This position supports the settlement process for both active and bankrupt defendants by preparing legal documents, communicating with clients, and maintaining accurate case records. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable speaking with clients, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Aptos;mso-font-kerning:0pt;mso-ligatures:none">Responsibilities Prepare Compromise and Release (C&R) agreements using firm templates or defendant-provided documents. Review and revise settlement documents for active Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) cases when applicable. Send settlement documents to clients via DocuSign or mail. Review returned documents to ensure all signatures and required information are complete. Prepare and assemble settlement packages, including Requests for Dismissal, Form B, Medicare eligibility forms, Successor-in-Interest declarations, and other required documents. Upload executed settlement documents to trust websites when required. Maintain accurate case tracking and update internal databases throughout the settlement process. Contact clients regarding outstanding documents and answer questions related to settlement releases and Medicare eligibility. Fluent in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, writing, and translating documents). Strong verbal communication and customer service skills. Comfortable communicating with clients by phone. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
