What We Are Looking For We are seeking an experienced Attorney to anchor the dispute side of our Business and Real Estate verticals. This role is built for a lawyer with real depth in business and real estate law who is comfortable in a courtroom and knows how to move a dispute to resolution, whether that is a well-drafted demand letter, a negotiated buyout, mediation, or trial. You will manage a docket of business disputes, real estate disputes, and related transactional matters, working closely with our paralegals, our Client Care team, and firm leadership. We prioritize practice-area depth and strong writing over volume of courtroom hours, but you must be ready to stand up and argue when a matter calls for it. Experience Requirements 5+ years of experience practicing law in a boutique, mid-size, or large firm setting Substantive experience in business law and real estate law, including at least one of: partnership and ownership disputes, contract disputes, seller disclosure or construction defect claims, or commercial lease matters Demonstrated courtroom and litigation experience; you are comfortable appearing before a judge, handling contested hearings, and taking and defending depositions Strong legal research and writing skills; a persuasive writing sample will be requested Experience managing a caseload independently, including client communication, deadlines, and file management Practice Areas You will regularly work across the following areas. We do not expect mastery of all of them on day one, but we do expect the range and the willingness to grow into it: Business disputes, including partner and ownership disputes, buyouts, and dissolutions Contract disputes and pre-suit resolution, including demand letters, negotiation, and mediation Real estate disputes, including seller disclosure, construction defect, title and curative issues, and earnest money disputes Residential and commercial real estate transactions, including contract preparation, TREC form review, and seller-finance packages Commercial lease drafting and negotiation for landlords and tenants Business formations, company agreements, buy-sell agreements, and purchase and sale transactions You Are A high-achieving self-starter who consistently exceeds goals and expectations without burning out Someone who takes ownership and shows initiative, but also knows when to collaborate A natural problem-solver who anticipates issues before they arise Highly organized with strong attention to detail A relationship builder who genuinely values client service and is comfortable representing the firm in the community Coachable and receptive to feedback Trustworthy, with an unwavering respect for confidentiality Comfortable moving between transactional counsel and contested proceedings Someone who prefers resolving a dispute well over litigating it long Core Responsibilities Litigation & Dispute Resolution Manage business and real estate disputes from intake through resolution, including case strategy, budgeting, and scope Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and briefs Make court appearances, argue motions, and conduct depositions Represent clients in negotiation, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution settings Prepare matters for trial and try them with firm support, or coordinate with of counsel on federal or complex trial matters Transactional & Advisory Work Draft and negotiate real estate contracts, commercial leases, and seller-finance documents Structure and document business formations, company agreements, buyouts, and purchase and sale transactions Advise business owners on ownership, governance, and exit planning, often on the heels of a resolved dispute Handle Trademark Docket, including registration and all administrative Dealings with the USPTO. Client Relations Serve as the primary attorney contact for your matters Make difficult legal concepts understandable and relatable Provide realistic assessments of options, risks, cost, and likely outcomes Communicate regularly with clients regarding status and next steps Business Development Build and maintain referral relationships with title companies, real estate professionals, CPAs, and business advisors Participate in networking, speaking, and community involvement in the San Antonio and Austin markets Collaborate with other attorneys on cross-referral opportunities across our Business, Estates & Trusts, and Real Estate verticals Contribute to the firm's marketing and thought leadership initiatives Team Collaboration Work closely with paralegals and legal assistants to keep matters moving efficiently Communicate proactively with firm leadership on status, strategy, and workload Participate in firm meetings, case strategy discussions, and firm-wide initiatives Adhere to firm policies, including attendance, billing, and electronic communication guidelines You'll Need Technical Expertise Active Texas law license in good standing Thorough understanding of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, and litigation strategy Working knowledge of the Texas Business Organizations Code, the Texas Property Code, and Texas real estate contract practice
