We are a structured, professionally managed firm — we have the infrastructure, the systems, and the clients. We are looking for an attorney who can take files, run them to completion, and deliver exceptional client outcomes without needing to be walked through every step. You will own and execute elder law and Medicaid planning matters from the design call through final resolution — independently, and with minimal supervision. Your caseload will include crisis Medicaid planning, pre-planning, and elder law documents for clients navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. The firm uses WealthCounsel (including Elder Docs) for all document production. You will not be building templates — you will be applying a best-in-class platform to serve clients efficiently and at a high level of quality. Responsibilities Conduct Medicaid eligibility analyses and design crisis and pre-planning strategies (spend-down, CSRA, exempt asset conversions, look-back compliance) Prepare and submit Medicaid applications through DCF and AHCA; manage the full application lifecycle including RFIs and fair hearings Advise on Medicaid estate recovery, Special Needs Trusts (first-party and third-party), and VA Aid & Attendance benefits Prepare elder law planning documents: durable powers of attorney, health care surrogates, living wills, and POLST forms Prepare estate planning instruments — revocable living trusts, wills, powers of attorney — through the firm's document platform Track all billable time contemporaneously and participate in case status meetings Skills Required Active Florida Bar license in good standing Minimum 3 years of Florida elder law experience with a primary focus on Medicaid planning — crisis and pre-planning Hands-on experience with

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF
… We want to be direct. This role is a strong fit for the right attorney — and the wrong fit for others. Please read this carefully before applying. ✗ You are an entry-level attorney or fewer than 3 years out of law school — this role requires full independent execution from Day 1 and we do not have the bandwidth to train someone in elder law or Medicaid planning fundamentals ✗ You are winding down your career and looking for a low-stakes, light-caseload role — this is an active, full-production position with clear performance expectations ✗ You need regular supervision, strategic coaching, or frequent check-ins to manage your caseload — matters are delegated here, not managed for you ✗ Your elder law background is general and does not include hands-on Florida Medicaid planning — "estate planning and elder law" without substantive Medicaid application experience is not a match ✗ You are only willing to work remotely — this position is primarily in-person in Largo, with a potential work-from-home day on Fridays as a schedule-dependent benefit, not a guaranteed arrangement ✗ You are not comfortable with billable hour expectations, contemporaneous time tracking, or monthly performance reviews
APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Along with your résumé and cover note, please answer both questions below. We are looking for clarity and substance — not length. Limit each response to 150 words. Question 1 — Subject Matter A prospective client calls the office. Her 81-year-old mother was just told she needs to move to a nursing facility within 30 days. The mother has $180,000 in a savings account, owns her home jointly with her daughter, and receives $1,400/month in Social Security. The daughter wants to know if her mother can qualify for Florida Medicaid to cover nursing home costs — and if so, what needs to happen immediately. Walk us through how you would approach this situation. Your answer (150 words max): ______________________________________________________________________________________ Question 2 — Culture Fit Describe your ideal working environment. What does a well-run law firm look like to you, and how do you do your best work? We are a structured, professionally managed firm with clear systems, defined expectations, and a performance-oriented culture. Tell us honestly whether that sounds like the right environment for you — and why. Your answer (150 words max): ______________________________________________________________________________________ Applications that do not include answers to both questions will not be reviewed.
HOW TO APPLY
Send your résumé, a brief cover note (2-3 sentences on your Medicaid planning background), and your answers to the two Application Questions above to . Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. No recruiters or staffing agencies, please.
