Harman Law, PLLC | Charlotte / Raleigh, North Carolina Full-Time Harman Law is seeking an attorney to join and help grow our statewide North Carolina employment law practice. We represent both employees and employers in a broad range of employment matters across North Carolina, from counseling and pre-litigation disputes through administrative proceedings and litigation. We are looking for an attorney who wants more than simply managing a docket. This is an opportunity to take ownership of cases, work directly with clients, and play an important role in the continued growth of an established North Carolina law firm. Our ideal candidate has employment law experience representing employees, employers, or both. We are also interested in experienced civil litigators who want to transition into employment law and have the litigation skills and judgment to independently manage cases. What You'll Do You will manage employment matters from initial consultation through resolution, including: Evaluate potential matters and advise clients on their options. Develop case strategy and independently manage an active caseload. Draft demand letters and negotiate pre-litigation resolutions. Prepare EEOC and other administrative filings. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement agreements, and other legal documents. Handle discovery, depositions, hearings, motion practice, mediations, and settlement negotiations. Litigate matters in North Carolina state and federal courts. Prepare for and handle arbitrations and trials when necessary. Communicate directly with clients and keep them informed throughout their matters. Depending on experience, advise employer clients regarding workplace issues, policies, compliance, employment agreements, investigations, and employment decisions. Contribute to the continued development and growth of the firm's employment practice throughout North Carolina. What We're Looking For Active North Carolina law license. Employment law experience representing employees or employers strongly preferred. Alternatively, meaningful civil litigation experience combined with a strong interest in employment law. Experience handling matters in state and/or federal court. Comfort with discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial preparation. Ability to independently manage cases and exercise sound professional judgment. Strong legal writing, analysis, advocacy, and negotiation skills. Excellent organization and deadline management. Strong communication skills and a commitment to outstanding client service. Employer-side experience is a plus, particularly experience counseling businesses on workplace issues, policies and compliance, or defending employment claims. A portable book of business is also a plus but is not required. Harman Law is investing in the continued growth of its employment practice and generating new matters throughout North Carolina. Business development is not required, although the firm is happy to support an attorney who wants to develop or expand their own client relationships. Why Harman Law? Compensation Compensation will be commensurate with experience and any existing business the attorney brings to the firm.
