Family Law Attorney (Counsel Level)
Work Model:
Hybrid / Mostly Remote (Must reside in Northern Virginia) gpac is conducting a confidential search on behalf of our partner , a respected Northern Virginia family law boutique, seeking a Family Law Attorney (Counsel Level) with 7+ years of experience . This role offers a rare combination of predictable six-figure income, flexible remote work, and strong upside potential —without the administrative pressure or politics that often come with partnership-track positions. The firm is seeking an experienced attorney who enjoys managing cases independently, advising clients through complex personal matters, and maintaining a high level of professional autonomy. The Opportunity The attorney in this role will handle a full spectrum of family law matters , working closely with clients on sensitive and complex issues while maintaining significant flexibility in their day-to-day work schedule. Unlike many family law roles, this position offers a lower-than-average billable requirement combined with a guaranteed base salary and meaningful performance incentives . Attorneys are trusted to manage their caseload independently while leveraging the firm's established reputation and client base. The office is available for client meetings, collaboration, and court preparation , but the firm maintains a flexible work model that allows attorneys to work remotely for the majority of their schedule. Responsibilities Manage a full caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution Represent clients in divorce, custody, support, and property division matters Handle both negotiated settlements and litigation when necessary Draft pleadings, agreements, and court filings Advise clients on strategy and long-term outcomes in complex family law disputes Appear in court and participate in mediations or settlement conferences Work with support staff and paralegals to maintain efficient case management Qualifications 7+ years of family law experience Ability to independently manage cases from start to finish Strong litigation and negotiation skills Experience handling contested matters including custody and financial disputes Excellent communication and client relationship skills Active license to practice law in Virginia Must reside in Northern Virginia Compensation Structure This position offers stable base compensation with strong upside potential tied directly to productivity .
Base Salary:
$150,000
Quarterly Incentive:
Every 350 collected hours per quarter earns an additional bonus
Annual Upside:
For hours collected beyond 1,400 annually , attorneys earn 50% of the collected revenue This structure allows strong performers to significantly increase their earnings while maintaining a manageable billable expectation .
