Job Description
Job Overview Guided by Grace Law Firm, LLC is seeking an experienced Maryland family law attorney to assist with family law matters on a contract/as-needed basis. This role is ideal for an attorney who is confident appearing in Maryland Circuit Court and has experience handling custody, child support, divorce, contempt, modification, and related family law matters. The attorney may assist with case strategy, client communication, drafting pleadings and motions, preparing exhibits, conducting hearing preparation, and appearing in court for scheduling conferences, status conferences, settlement conferences, uncontested divorce hearings, motions hearings, trials, and other family law proceedings as assigned. The Firm is looking for someone who is reliable, responsive, prepared, compassionate, and comfortable working collaboratively with the lead attorney. The ideal candidate has strong courtroom presence, sound judgment, excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage sensitive family law matters with professionalism and care. Responsibilities Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on various family law issues such as divorce, child custody, alimony, and adoption Assist with family law case strategy, preparation, and litigation support; Draft and review pleadings, motions, correspondence, proposed orders, discovery, and other legal documents; Prepare exhibits and witness outlines for trial; Communicate with clients as needed; Appear in Maryland Circuit Courts for family law proceedings; Handle scheduling conferences, status conferences, settlement conferences, motions hearings, uncontested divorce hearings, trials, and other appearances as assigned; Provide timely updates and post-hearing summaries to the Firm; Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong client service at all times.
Draft, review, and negotiate family law contracts, including custody agreements, visitation arrangements, and settlement agreement. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in Maryland (DC is a plus); Meaningful experience in Maryland family law; Comfortable handling custody, child support, divorce, contempt, modification, and related matters; Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills; Experience appearing in Maryland Circuit Court; Familiarity with MDEC; Ability to work independently while following Firm strategy and direction; Reliable, responsive, organized, and detail-oriented; Compassionate and professional when working with clients navigating sensitive family matter.
